Wooden Fire Doors
A steel fire door is the right answer in a plant room and the wrong answer in a hotel corridor. Wooden fire doors give the same tested fire performance in a finish that suits occupied, front-of-house spaces — guest floors, patient rooms, offices, apartment entrances and institutional buildings.
How a timber fire door works
The leaf is built around a fire-resisting core, edge-banded in hardwood and faced with the specified finish. Intumescent strips let into the leaf or frame expand on heating and seal the gap that the timber leaves as it chars. The result is a door that looks like joinery and performs like a fire barrier.
Ratings and finishes
- FD60 and FD120 ratings, tested to IS 3614.
- Flush doors ready for site painting, or factory-finished in laminate.
- Natural veneer in teak, oak and walnut where the door is part of the interior scheme.
- Vision panels in fire rated glass, from small observation panes to full-height glazing.
- Single and double leaf, with and without rebated meeting stiles.
Hardware matters as much as the leaf
A fire rated wooden door hung on uncertified hinges is not a fire door. We supply the complete set — intumescent-backed hinges, fire rated locks and latches, door closers and smoke seals — so the whole assembly matches the tested configuration rather than only the leaf.
Where wooden fire doors are specified
Hotels and resorts, hospitals and nursing homes, corporate offices, educational institutions, and residential towers where the apartment entrance door must be fire rated but must not look like one.
