Addressable Fire Alarm System

Home Fire Safety Systems Addressable Fire Alarm System

IFES supplies and installs microprocessed addressable fire alarm systems with zone-wise detection capability for large commercial buildings, high-rise residential towers, hospitals, industrial facilities, and institutional complexes. Addressable systems identify the exact detector or call point that has activated — by address, zone, and location name — enabling targeted evacuation, rapid fire brigade response, and minimal false alarm disruption.

System components: addressable fire alarm control panel (FACP), optical smoke detectors, heat detectors, multi-sensor detectors, manual call points (break-glass), electronic sounders, visual alarm devices (strobes), and fire alarm repeater panels. All systems are designed and installed per NBC 2016 Part IV, the Delhi Fire Safety Act 1986, and IS:2189. IFES provides complete system design, installation, commissioning, and annual maintenance contracts. Contact IFES for a fire alarm system design and quotation.

Addressable Fire Alarm System — Zone-Wise Detection for Large and High-Rise Buildings

A fire alarm system is the first active response to a fire event — detecting smoke or heat, alerting building occupants to evacuate, and notifying the fire brigade. The speed and precision of this response can mean the difference between a contained incident and a catastrophic loss. IFES microprocessed addressable fire alarm systems provide the highest level of detection accuracy, false alarm discrimination, and system management capability available for large and complex buildings.

Addressable vs Conventional

Conventional fire alarm systems divide the building into zones, each zone wired back to the panel. When a detector activates, the panel shows which zone is affected — but not which specific detector. In a large building, a zone may cover an entire floor or wing, requiring extensive physical search to locate the source. Addressable systems assign a unique electronic address to every detector and call point. When any device activates, the panel displays the exact device address, its location name, and the type of event (smoke, heat, fault, test) — enabling immediate, precise response.

System Components

Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP): microprocessor-based panel with LCD display, event log, cause-and-effect programming, and network capability for large multi-panel installations. Panel capacity from 2 loops (127 devices per loop) to 8+ loops for very large installations.

Detectors: optical (photoelectric) smoke detectors for slow-smouldering fires; heat detectors (fixed temperature and rate-of-rise) for high-dust or high-humidity environments; multi-sensor detectors combining optical and heat sensing for high-sensitivity, low false alarm performance in challenging environments.

Manual Call Points: break-glass manual call points at each exit and floor landing, allowing occupants to raise the alarm manually before automatic detection activates.

Notification Devices: electronic sounders and visual alarm devices (strobe units) providing audible and visual alarm signals throughout the building. Voice evacuation systems available for large or complex evacuation scenarios.

Integration

IFES fire alarm systems integrate with building management systems (BMS), lift recall systems, stairwell pressurisation fans, electromagnetic door hold-open devices, fire curtain release systems, and CCTV systems — creating a co-ordinated building fire safety response on alarm activation.
