Architectural openings in modern buildings are often wider than a standard single or double fire door leaf can cover. Lift lobby entrances, reception hall openings, atrium glazed screens, and wide corridor fire compartmentation points may span 3, 4, or even 6 metres — far beyond what a 2.4-metre double-leaf fire door can address. The IFES Glazed Fire Door with Partition solves this challenge by combining an operable fire door leaf with fixed fire-rated glazed sidelite panels to cover the full opening width within a single certified fire-rated assembly.

Assembly Configuration

The assembly consists of one or two fire door leafs (the operable sections) flanked by fixed fire-rated glazed partition panels (the sidelites). The partition panels are fabricated in the same 1.6 mm GI steel frame and finish as the door leaf, creating a visually unified system across the entire opening width. All panels — door leaf and fixed sidelites — carry fire-rated clear glass, maintaining unobstructed sightlines across the compartment boundary.

Fire Rating

120-minute fire resistance for the complete assembly — door leaf, frame, sidelite panels, and glazing. Tested and certified per IS:3614-2021 at CBRI Roorkee. The 120-minute rating satisfies NBC 2016 requirements for lift lobby enclosures in high-rise buildings, basement car park entrances, and other high-risk compartmentation points.

Construction Details

Frame: 1.6 mm GI steel. Door shutter: 60 mm. Fixed sidelite panel: GI steel framed, depth and width to suit opening. Glazing: 2-hour fire-rated toughened clear glass throughout. Intumescent fire seals and cold smoke seals on all door leaf perimeter edges. All panels anchored to adjacent structure with fire-rated fixings.

Hardware

Three SS ball-bearing butt hinges on door leaf. EN-rated overhead door closer. Mortise lock or panic bar on door leaf. Fixed sidelite panels are non-operable and have no hardware other than frame anchors. Electromagnetic hold-open device optional on door leaf.
