Shaft Doors and Fire Hose Boxes
Service shafts and hose cabinets sit on almost every landing of a high-rise, and both are routinely under-specified. A riser shaft is a vertical chimney running the full height of the building; if its access door is not fire rated, the shaft carries fire from the basement to the terrace.
Fire rated shaft doors
Our shaft doors are manufactured to IS 3614 in FD60 and FD120 ratings, sized to the riser opening rather than to a standard door size. Flush-fitting leaves keep the landing lobby clear, and self-closing hardware ensures the shaft is never left open after a maintenance visit.
FHC doors
An FHC door — fire hose cabinet door — closes the recess holding the landing valve, hose reel and branch pipe. It has to be fire rated because it sits in a compartment wall, and it has to open instantly without a key, because the fire service will be opening it in smoke. We supply FHC doors with break-glass or quarter-turn release and clear photoluminescent marking.
Hose boxes
- Mild steel hose boxes, powder coated in signal red, for internal landings.
- SS hose boxes in stainless steel for external, coastal and architecturally exposed locations.
- Single and double door configurations, with or without a glazed front.
- Sizes made to suit the hose length, reel diameter and landing valve position rather than to a catalogue size.
Supplied complete
Hose boxes can be supplied fitted out with RRL hose, branch pipe, nozzle and couplings, so the cabinet arrives on site ready to mount instead of as an empty enclosure waiting on four other suppliers.
