Steel Fire Door — ISI Mark IS:3614, GI Steel, 60/120 Min Fire Rating

The steel fire door is the standard specification for passive fire protection in the majority of commercial, industrial, and high-rise building projects across India. Its superior impact resistance, durability in humid and high-traffic environments, low maintenance requirement, and consistent ability to achieve FD120 ratings make it the preferred choice for architects, structural consultants, and fire NOC authorities wherever maximum performance is required.

Construction

The IFES steel fire door frame is fabricated from 1.2 mm or 1.6 mm galvanised cold-rolled steel (GI) in single-rebate (100×57 mm) or double-rebate (143×57 mm) profile. The shutter is 46 mm thick with 1.2 mm or 1.6 mm GI steel skins on both faces, enclosing a mineral wool core. Mineral wool provides excellent non-combustible fire insulation, dimensional stability at temperatures exceeding 1000°C, and consistent performance across the 60-minute or 120-minute fire test duration.

Intumescent seals are factory-fitted into the frame rebate on all four sides of the door leaf. Cold smoke seals prevent the passage of ambient-temperature smoke. On double-leaf doors, astragal seals seal the meeting stile. All seals are compatible with the fire rating and are part of the tested assembly.

Frame Profiles

Single-rebate frame (100×57 mm): used for single-leaf doors and as the standard profile where the door opens in one direction only. Double-rebate frame (143×57 mm): used for double-leaf doors and where the door assembly requires a deeper frame section. Both profiles are available as welded or mechanical knock-down assemblies for ease of site installation.

Fire Rating and Certification

IFES steel fire doors achieve 60-minute (FD60) and 120-minute (FD120) fire resistance ratings tested under BS:476 Part 20-22 and IS:3614-2021 at CBRI Roorkee. ISI Mark certification under active BIS licence. Each door is individually marked and supplied with test and factory documentation for fire NOC submissions.

Finish and Hardware

Surface finish: powder coat in any RAL shade (standard; textured or smooth) or wooden finish (vinyl wrap or laminate) on request. Hardware: three SS ball-bearing butt hinges, EN-rated overhead closer, intumescent and smoke seals, and choice of mortise lock or panic bar. Optional: electromagnetic hold-open device, vision panel with fire-rated glass, access control preparation, and custom RAL colours.

Stairwell enclosures, lift lobbies, basement car park entrances, plant rooms, generator rooms, transformer rooms, electrical switchgear rooms, server rooms, data centres, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and all other high-durability or high-risk applications requiring a certified FD60 or FD120 fire door assembly.
