IFES supplies the complete range of fire door ironmongery and sealing products required to build a fully certified IS:3614-compliant fire door assembly. Our hardware range covers intumescent fire seals (20×4, 15×4, 10×4 mm profiles), cold smoke seals (brush and blade type), astragal seals for double-leaf doors, automatic drop-down bottom seals, EN-rated door closers, panic bars with trims, mortise locks, and stainless steel ball-bearing butt hinges in 100×75 mm and 100×100 mm sizes.
Every hardware item supplied by IFES is specified and tested as part of the fire door assembly. Using non-specified hardware invalidates the IS:3614 fire rating and creates compliance and insurance liability. IFES provides complete hardware schedules matched to each door type, fire rating, and application — with full documentation for fire NOC submissions. Contact IFES for a hardware schedule for your project.
The performance of a fire door in a real fire event depends entirely on the completeness and quality of its hardware. A fire door with a missing closer will not latch shut. A door with inadequate seals will allow smoke to penetrate escape routes before the fire reaches the door. A door with non-specified hinges may fail prematurely under the thermal stresses of a fire test scenario. IFES supplies only hardware that has been specified and tested as part of the certified fire door assembly.
Intumescent seals are strips of material that expand dramatically when heated above approximately 150°C, typically increasing in volume by 5–10 times. This expansion fills the gap between the door leaf and frame, blocking flames and hot gases. IFES supplies intumescent seals in three standard profiles to suit different frame rebate dimensions: 20×4 mm (standard steel door), 15×4 mm (timber door), and 10×4 mm (narrow rebate applications). Seals are available in graphite, sodium silicate, and aluminium silicate formulations.
Intumescent seals address hot gas and flame — but in the early stages of a fire, smoke at ambient temperature is the primary threat to escape routes. Cold smoke seals (brush pile or blade type) provide an immediate barrier against cold smoke infiltration from the moment the door is closed. Fitted to the door leaf perimeter or the frame rebate, they maintain a flexible seal under normal door operation without impeding door movement.
For double-leaf fire doors, the meeting stile (the vertical gap between the two door leafs when closed) must be sealed against both cold smoke and hot gases. Astragal seals — combined intumescent and smoke strips fitted to one or both meeting stiles — provide this sealing without a fixed centre mullion, allowing both leafs to open freely for emergency egress.
The threshold gap (between the bottom of the door leaf and the floor) is the most difficult gap to seal while allowing the door to swing freely. Automatic drop-down (mortise) bottom seals solve this by housing a spring-loaded blade seal inside the door leaf bottom rail. As the door closes, the blade drops to contact the floor threshold, completing the seal. On opening, the blade lifts automatically. Available in aluminium and stainless steel housing with neoprene blade.
EN-rated overhead rack-and-pinion door closers in slide-arm and standard arm configurations, sized by door weight and width. CE-marked panic bars (push bars) in 600, 900, and 1200 mm sizes with matching trims. Mortise deadbolts and sashbolts. SS ball-bearing butt hinges, 100×75 mm and 100×100 mm, minimum three per leaf.
