FHC Door

FHC Door — Fire Hose Cabinet Door, Powder-Coated Red, Float Glass Vision Panel

Every building fitted with a wet riser or hose reel fire fighting system requires fire hose cabinets (FHC) at each hose reel outlet point — typically on each floor in corridors, lobbies, basements, and car parks. The FHC cabinet houses the 20 mm or 25 mm bore fire hose reel and nozzle, protecting it from dust, tampering, and accidental damage while keeping it immediately accessible in an emergency.

The IFES FHC Door is the enclosure door of the fire hose cabinet assembly — the visible, identifiable face of the fire fighting point. It is not a fire-rated door (the hose cabinet itself does not need to be fire-rated), but it must be robustly constructed, clearly identified as a fire safety component, and easy to open rapidly without tools in an emergency situation.

Construction

Sheet thickness: 1.0–1.5 mm mild steel. Shutter: 28 mm, fabricated from sheet steel with a flat infill. Frame: 100×80 mm profile, welded construction. Vision panel: 5 mm float glass — allows the hose reel inside to be visually inspected without opening the cabinet, enabling quick verification that the hose is present and properly stowed.

Hardware

Concealed recessed handle — flush with the door face for a clean finish and to prevent obstruction in narrow corridors. Allen key lock — secures the cabinet against unauthorised access or accidental opening, while ensuring that trained fire wardens and fire brigade personnel can open it immediately. MS butt hinges — heavy-duty hinges providing smooth, reliable door operation for the service life of the installation.

Finish

Standard finish: powder coat red (RAL 3000 or RAL 3020) — the universally recognised colour for fire fighting equipment in Indian buildings, matching the IS:15683 colour coding requirements for fire safety equipment. Custom colours or stainless steel finish available on request for premium installations.

Size and Customisation

Standard size: 1000×2000 mm. Custom widths and heights available to accommodate different hose reel cabinet depths, wall alcove dimensions, and architectural requirements. Surface-mount and flush-mount (recessed) configurations available.
